Curated by Dan Cameron, U.S. Biennial | Prospect New Orleans.
In the spirit of its title, appropriated from a well-known 1949 guide to New Orleans’ distinctive street names, the exhibition Frenchmen, Desire, Good Children reflects upon the specificity of place within New Orleans’ art and culture. Bringing together works by three New Orleans-based visual artists and a documentary film about the history of the Faubourg Tremé neighborhood, Frenchmen, Desire, Good Children examines ways in which New Orleans’ vital cultural expressions have developed out of the fabric of everyday life.
Frenchmen, Desire, Good Children has been organized in partnership with Lambent Foundation to bring attention to New Orleans’ unique artistic landscape and to support the social and cultural mission of Prospect New Orleans.
